Fort Wayne Fright Night

Have you seen the skeletons in downtown Fort Wayne? They are hanging up high on the light posts, but are posed in such a realistic way! I had to do a double take because I could have sworn I saw one of them scrambling up the pole!
Here's some info about the event:

Only the brave will want to weather the chilling and electrifying streets of Downtown Fort Wayne on October 27 for Downtown Fright Night. The young and old will be awed, scared and thrilled at the haunting events only to be found in Downtown Fort Wayne.

Your day of terror begins at the Downtown Library plaza for the Three Rivers Coffin Races down Wayne Street. Be thrilled at the costume parade and Halloween activities at the Grand Wayne Center by WAJI. Get chills from the ARCH haunted bus and walking tours with ghost stories by the Fort Wayne library in the Indiana Hotel. Finally, be amazed at the old-time daring-do of “The Black Pirate,” a classic silent film at the Embassy accompanied by the historic Grande Page Pipe Organ.

There’s a little terror and haunting experience for every age group at the Downtown Fright Night. Admission is free for most events. Don’t miss it on October 27, 2007 at 5:00!

Some folks have been offended that they look too much like crucifixions, but I'm with you. I think it's like they're poised on the lampposts ready to pounce on the cars driving by below.

Hey, it's over now and so I can ask with absolute certainty: we have one who's sensitive to frightful. Was there an uber-tame section for the young/faint of heart? We'd like to go next year!

Yes. Our son is still very sensitive to scary, even at 8 years old. He will scream at a paper spider in a store.
We got there a little late for most of the fun, but I will say that it looked like there were lots of kid-friendly stuff to do.
There was a costume parade for all to participate in, and the stage was absolutely fantastical! It was really imaginative---a whole pirate ship, with sails and everything. It was not at all scary, just very, "ahoy, matey!". There was a short haunted maze in one room made from large room dividers, crepe paper and artificial spider webs. Eli loved running through it, but I heard that there were people in masks jumping out at you (definitely scary). We were the very last people to go through it, so noone jumped out at us.
The other two rooms were closed as well (I had to work until 6:00, and the real disappointment is that they didn't make the activities run until 7:00). But, I will say seemed non-scary and interesting. One was making goo with Sci Central, and the other was LEARNING THE THRILLER DANCE!!!! (So cool!). There was a craft area, with non-scary things to make and color.
THE BEST PART:
Halloween Storytelling by the beautiful and talented ACPL librarians inside the lobby of the Indiana Hotel. We waited for 30 minutes for the next story session, and it was totally worth it! Don't librarians just make everything more fun?!?!
